It's Febbie berry.
Wow.. it's Febrawary, Febraberry, Febrewary, it's the month after January already! February, the other bone chilling month, it's like January and February are a wrestling team that tag each other in to break you. I have to be honest and say this winter has been mild so far. Things can still happen, temperatures can still drop but we hit the halfway point so that still gives me piece of mind.
I'm going to hit you with an odd question so feel free to NOT answer if you have no thoughts. A friend and I have been discussing some books, very much in nerd territory. I asked him... and now I will ask you.. just for some thoughts.
I said that I wonder how long humans will last. I said I wonder if humans will still be here in a thousand years. If yes, will we be advanced people, living in harmony with nature,(because we finally learned we had to)? Driving electric cars, having wind and solar energy for our homes and other inventions not even dreamed of yet, or will we be basically tribes again, wandering around trying to survive after years of terrible wars, runaway diseases and extreme weather disasters?
What do you think, in a thousand years will we be extinct, advanced or regressed? Explanations are welcomed. As for myself, at one time I would have said advanced, now I'm just not so sure anymore.

probably not. we humans are slowly going extinct.
I have a strict policy of never having thoughts. But I have opinions! My opinions is humans are unlikely to go extinct in the near future, because there are almost eight billion of us now. Our population supposedly shrank to a 2000 person bottleneck, yet we bounced back.
Does that extend to 1000 years? That is unclear, but like melanoma humanity's greatest traits are mobility and adaptiveness. People live in the arctic. They live on the tops of mountains. They live in jungles and in deserts. They do this with some technology (fire, domesticated animals) but not as much as we take for granted.
On the other hand, I forsee civilization collapsing and/or being superseded by the Singularity in 2040. On the other hand, we Malthusians have lost that bet before, and therefore human exponential growth is not just a blip but the result of modern technological exceptionalism, so things will just get better and better indefinitely.
One dire threat is homosexuality. If everybody became gay then nobody would be able to have babies, and the human species would go extinct! Since being gay is vastly preferable to the alternative, this is a real danger.
I vote tribalism. It'll be like Mad Max, only less fun.
Of course we will be around. We will have colonized Mars, and some of the moons of Jupiter, not that there will be harmony. We are an aggressive species. We are also very smart... except for the Crazy Christians who can see anything beyond our own atmosphere. We will not be like Star Trek, with a benevolent Federation but we will be freaking amazing.
I think, unless we really change the way we live, and really act responsibly about this planet, that the Earth will still be here but humans, like dinosaurs before us, will have vanished.
I agree with Bob. I notice it more living next to the ocean and seeing the beach disappear by higher water levels.
Given the current state of global unrest I sometimes doubt humans will be around much longer. However, I have to hope we will overcome our struggles and difference and come together to stop destroying the planet.
Heads up to you tootes. Bunny is in Whistler for gay pride festivities. Is that near you? I thought she did her "sking" on sex sites!!!!
Humans....good thing Im not a Goddess....they'd be in big trouble right now if left to me. I will always side with earth and animals. Humans only know greed and take and take and take. And in my opinion we should all be gay for a good decade. We are over populated now, and who needs more fucking screaming brats? Seems my dark evil side is emerging again.
I don't know Anne Marie, I'm really unsure of the world these days.
Lurker.. ummm.. okay?
Debra, I fear this will be what happens and the intelligent people will be ruled by idiots again, holding mankind back.. like they always do.
Dave, you have a more positive outlook.. I think? It might be a lot more difficult to colonize moons than people think. Plus Mars is not really a planet like what we think of as a planet. It's more like a big moon, just Google some size images of it compared to earth. Mars is a little fart, it should be sent to the planetary kiddie table.
Bob, I think it's a matter of when and not if.
Jimmy, I think I agree with you agreeing with Bob. Seriously though, the older I get, the more I realize that most people like being stupid.
Richard, it's really hard to say. I'm just not sure anymore.
Maddie, no that's above your Washington state, so opposite side of the country.
Maddie, everyone being gay for ten years works for me!!!
Dr Spo, so you feel we will be extinct, hmmm that's sad. Like others have said, I think there will be people but I'm afraid we will be like we were a thousand years ago.
I think we’re heading for a climate calamity. That, combined with political unrest does not bode well for humanity. I think we will see more wars and unrest throughout the world. That will, unfortunately, direct resources from the climate problem. Heaven forbid we see a nuclear war, but it is a growing possibility.
With that, have a happy day 😁
HuntleyBiGuy, yes the calamity will happen when countries with massive populations go under water and suddenly need a new country to live in. Sadly there will be still people saying it's not climate change and probably those same people will say the flooding is caused by gay marriage!
