A better day.

Thank you everyone, the kind responses were overwhelming. I had a better day today, less crying. I worked in my garden all morning and forced myself to eat a good lunch. I don't have any appetite and my mouth always seems dry.

I went for a drive and as I was passing the cottage of my aunt and uncle, I saw they were up. I stopped in and we sat outside and had a good afternoon visit. It really helped me. They are also my godparents, so nice to see them happy and healthy.

I think another problem is that I don't sleep, three maybe four hours a night, I think that also makes me over emotional. I bought some over the counter pills to help you sleep. It seemed to work well last night, I got close to eight hours sleep in total.

I'm going to get help, I don't think I can get rid of this on my own.

Hi Steven,
I just read your last post as well as this one. I have been in dark places myself before and I have had to work my way through it. Getting professional help might be a good thing to do. The sleeping thing is also important as when I don't sleep, the world just seems like a horrible place. I take over the counter zzzquill to help me go to sleep and stay asleep. You are in my thoughts. This Covid-19 thing doesn't help matters either.

Would it help if I send you more pictures?!?!?!?!?!

Yes, professional help may be the answer. At least to pin point what is going on and sort things. You can't let a man who's not in your life take you down!!! I can't take pills. Have you tried a glass of wine before bed? Wine usually really relaxes me and I sleep like a baby. Just pack up and come stay with me kid.

I think Maddie has a new pick-up line.

Steven, the first step is recognizing you heed help. So often we believe we can go it alone. Glad you got some sleep, that will help clear your head. Hand in there my friend. We need you. ❤️

Good job on getting some sleep, getting in some physical activity, and eating better.

It is also good that you socialized today. It seems that you need some socialization to feel good in the day. With whom will you socialize tomorrow? Tuesday? These social interactions probably do not need to be in person, but I am guessing that texting or blog comments will not be sufficient either. Organizing some social activities in advance can be better than leaving things to chance, because when you book ahead you will have something to look forward to.

Speaking of which: it is excellent that you will seek some outside help. Can we expect a progress report this week? It is too easy to put these things off until you are in crisis. Yes I am being pushy but this is important.

Sleep is vitally important to good mental health. In fact, people diagnosed with bipolar disorder often are ordered to maintain a rigid wake-sleep routine to keep their moods in check.

Can I recommend a book to you?
It's not to take the place of getting help. You must do that but this book will give you the psychological and practical tools you need to beat this.
It's called, "The Noonday Demon" by Andrew Soloman.
It's freely available. Search for him online.
I guarantee this will help.
Take care. Xx

Like Lurkie said, socializing, getting out and doing some exercise are really essential. Also, getting some sleep. Insomnia only makes us irritable and tired. And I would try a little bit of help. I'm sure they're doing some teleconferencing while the pandemic abates. Sometimes we cannot do it all on our own and a little help is necessary.
Meanwhile, take care and keep us posted.

XOXO

I'm glad it was a better day! But yes, make that phone call. It may take a while to get an appointment, so the sooner you phone, the sooner that will be.

I've been in and out of therapy several times in my life. It always helped me. I will help you too.
