Fluff

OK so things did not turn out the way I wanted Halloween night, I had my pity moment and now I'm fine, well sort of. I was trying to get enough nerve to go have a drink in a gay bar tonight but I kept putting it off and then used the excuse that it was too late to go out. I'm such a kid sometimes! I put my profile on a gay site tonight, I'm listed as just looking for friends so I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. The thing that bugs me about the site is that it advertised as being for my city but once I joined and looked for people, it gave me profiles of people from all over Canada and the U.S. I already have blog buddies from all over, I wanted real live gay friends close by. Someone emailed me the other day and used an expression that made me laugh, he said to come out of the closet and tell people that I, "like to smoke and ride pole!" I was thinking if I don't get many hits on my dating site, then I will list that in the section marked as "favourite activities or hobbies", that should get a good bunch of hits.

The other night at the dinner I was thinking lesbians are really cool people, the other side of the gay coin so to speak. Strange as it sounds I do know a good number of lesbians but no gay men, all of them are very down to earth. I did not really fit in though and it had nothing to do with being the only person there that owns a real penis, no it was that they talked about sports, home renovations and cars. I was thinking "shit" I could have just hung out with my straight buddies! Speaking of straight buddies I am suppose to go out tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that and at least it won't be a disappointment when I don't meet anyone - again. My friend sent the following little brain tease that I thought was really cool. Read and stare in wonder at the human mind.

I love my lesbian friends, but they certainly are task-oriented. I can be, too, but I'd rather talk about baking cakes than replacing carburetors. BTW, speaking of fluff, here's a great website when you just need a smile:
www.catsinsinks.com
That's all it is, photos of cats in sinks. No commentary or editorializing. Just cats in sinks.

As bad as it sounds, gay man are inherently flakey. As soon as something else comes along that sounds like it will be more fun, they will ditch their current plans. I count myself in this group as I am just as guilty.

I wish that your dinner party would have worked out better, and in time you will meet some great gay men. All I can tell you is that you have to put yourself out there.

I honestly think you have your hopes up too high on what the gay life is like. I'm not trying to sound like a bitch here, but it's not as glamorized as TV and movies make it out to be. I have a feeling you will be disappointed by what you expected the first time you go out to a local bar. I know I was.

I concur with what Daniel said. I remember my first visit to a gay bar in Chicago and I felt as though I had to fit in somewhere and that there were just too many cliques. I then concluded that it is ABSOLUTELY best to go into a bar the first time with a friend. It was a night/day difference. I figured I must have been like a loner and as shy as I was/am, I was not going to be the first to start a conversation with strangers.

I liked the brain tease, but since when did "important" have an "e" in it? ;-)

Bill, all the lesbians that I know of, are very grounded and down to earth people, now if they all only had gay brothers that were the same way. I like animals but is there a web site called 'hot men in sinks'?

Daniel, actually I appreciate your honesty and assume that is your experience, so feel free to say that here. From some of the things I read and see, I understand completely why you would say that.

Wayne, I know it is really cool the way our minds work sometimes.

Scott, oh yeah, there is awlays a smraty pants in every cwrod. : p

Steven, that is my plan, to go with others or I know I won't do it alone.
I didn't notice the 'e' but there are too many letters in 'research' so maybe that is part of the brain tease.

Yeah, I've seen that quote you put at the end about the letters. Pretty cool huh?
And if you put that "interest" in your interest you'll end up with a lot of hits! Should be interesting to see what comes of it.
