Everybody take cover!
This year as far as summers go, has actually been nice for the most part. Not too many really hot humid days like the last couple of years. Mostly sunny days and very enjoyable. Also there have been some nice showers in the evenings to cool things off. Storms are also coming through and dropping the temperatures as well in the evenings. It's good this is happening as the last couple of years, it would be boiling hot, storms would blow through and it would stay hot, not normal for around here.
The one drawback of this is we are getting powerful storms every four or five days in the evenings, wind damage, hail, some tornados, lighting. I hate storms, living in the country shows you first hand what they can do, from miner to major damage. Lightning and crazy winds make me very stressed, to the point of me sweating. They were calling for showers today but the humidity and temperature was high and so this afternoon a severe storm warning went out.
A lot of dark clouds passed over with no rain or thunder. I was enjoying my time in the garden, the high winds were keeping the mosquitoes at bay, making it easier to work. Then the sky began to clear off and I was happy we missed the storms.
I FREAKING hate storms, especially these days when they all seem to be auditioning for a role in Armageddon!
Finally it moved away and the sky began to open. The temperature dropped thirteen degrees and the humidity was sent packing by a cool breeze.
The sun set which will help keep things cool for the night, they are saying the worst is over.

I had rain tonight too. I don't mind rain storms but I hate the violent lightning and thunderstorms. A tornado struck my neighborhood when I was 8. Our house was one of few that wasn't damaged. Many houses on the street were completely destroyed. It was really frightening to see a picnic table fly by the picture window in the living room. That's when my father rushed us into the basement.
What a most fantastic post!
You've really captured the drama and power of the storm, both with your pictures and your words.
We hardly ever have bad storms here and I'm glad of that really.
It must be terribly frightening to witness a tornado.
I was in lake garda, Italy in May. We passed mile after mile of trees strewn all over the sides of mountains. The guide explained that a tornado had passed through. It had destroyed tens of thousands of trees.
The power of nature.
Caging your bush beans? Are you afraid they will escape? Are you sure you are not confusing them with runner beans?
I appreciate that even as your life is being threatened by malevolent precipitation you are unable to utter real swear words.
Richard, we had a tornado here on the farm in 2013, in the last few minutes it moved southward and fortunately missed the buildings. I will never forget the sound of it and the feeling of being totally helpless while waiting for it to arrive. This didn't help with my fear of storms.
Christina, you are lucky if you don't get severe storms. We didn't get that many before before but now we do, it's one of the reasons I always felt the climate was changing. I was trying to get my feelings across, thank you for the comment.
Lurker, I have a garden gate to keep them in, especially since the package for spinach said they like to bolt during warm weather... ba dump dump! Bush beans need to be staked but I found it easier to use tomato cages and they do great that way.
I used to almost never say the naughty words, makes me look trailer park-ish, trying to get back to that habit, thank you for noticing my lack of potty mouth, you know the saying, "stay classy". :D
At least you get the possibility of rain, It hasn't rained here since the beginning of July. That's because we are in our drought months until October or November. I wish autumn would get here.
Leanna, ok now I get it, I was wondering why you seem to have so much rain, when the movies always show Texas as almost a desert. Wow that's a long time without rain. Is it like California now with mostly sunshine every day?
I hate thunder and lightning storms too, and here in the summer in Virginia they are quite frequent. We haven't had as many this year, and I am thankful. Great photos.
Our storms here are few and far between
Our skies never as big as yours
You need something to hold you tight, like those thunder shirts for dogs.
We don't get many storms like that in weho...just earthquakes, which I haven't felt in years even the current one in LA I didn't feel
I am mad-jealous I love storms esp. the ones that loom ominously on the horizon Lucky man.
Michael, we seem to be having a lot of extreme storms, in fact only one storm so far was a nice summer storm.
John, maybe I should come stay with you until fall lol!
Cali Boi, awww for a second I thought you were offering to hold me.... I'm so disappointed lol!
We usually don't have earthquakes or just itty bitty ones. We have a lot of storms now.
Dr Spo, well... if I could send you some I certainly would! Hahaha!
