To invent the word.

This evening the phone rang and it was my sister, we were discussing some changes in plans she had to make regarding dinner this weekend. I told her I was making dessert and not to worry about that part of dinner. One of the treats I'm making is her favourite cookie recipe of my mother's. She was actually excited about them and as we said goodbye, I hung up feeling quite the cookie hero for bringing her such simple joy. Fast forward to an hour later when the first tray is about to come out and I begin to think we need to invent a new word. The word needed is a word to describe the feeling when you suddenly realize that something has gone terribly wrong with the recipe you have been working on. Something that captures the disappointment of all the effort, time and ingredients waisted. Also the lost hero status, maybe even the feeling of being overwhelmed by the thought of a second attempt at the recipe. Yes a new word is needed because saying a word that sounds a lot like "ship" just doesn't cut it!

I can think of one but it isn't bloggable. Hey at least you tried!

All I can think of is a string of word that are normally shown as symbols in the funny papers. But as JP said - you tried. Did you do a second batch?

That happens to me as well; you follow the recipe but something goes wrong.
it's a disappointment.

I screwed up a cake I was baking today. It happens. Did you attempt it a second time?

Do or do not, there is no try, well that's from Star Wars so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the quote. Know any good chefs? Lol

Yes Will I did a second batch, perfectly golden brown and delicious, my sister said she is not sharing the ones I left her lol. Now I have a batch to eat that taste ok but look like a truck backed over them.

Yes, it's a bad surprise. I think I may know where I went wrong so will be careful in the future. They are not really that hard to make.

Michael, yes made a second batch and it came out fine. Also I have another treat that I can make in a few minutes but tastes good so those two things were plenty.

Does cookies have the same adage they apply toward cakes: The ugliest cakes taste the best they say.... Happy to hear the second batch was more to your liken, I'm sure everyone enjoyed them.

Stephen I don't think so, or at least I never heard that. I think usually cookies that turn out well also taste good. If they don't turn out well then usually they are too dry or too doughy.
