Pounding Annoyance.
Every person sooner or later has to deal with some sort of personal annoyance that affects their life. It could be an allergy, bad back or a reoccurring injury. One of my little annoyances is sinus migraines. I used to try and avoid taking medication but I heard something that I instantly knew to be true. A doctor was saying take something at the first sign of trouble to stop it in its tracks, otherwise you will end up taking a lot of medication to get rid of the pain. I find that true, I will take something if I feel one coming on, if I don't and it really takes hold, it can be two or three days of fighting it off. ............................................ Yesterday I could feel one coming on, they are usually worse for me in spring and fall, I assume it's the change over of the weather. The absolute worst ones are when warm moist days turn to an incoming cold front with that raw dry air. I had just finished dinner and was taking mom back to the seniors home, I forgot that I had pills with me but wasn't worried because it wouldn't be that long until I was back home. Unfortunately by the time I arrived my head was pounding, pounding, pounding. I have heard that the two most annoying things are a headache or a hurt back, I believe that because both can really put you off your day. It is so frustrating because I was back in good time and had many things I wanted to get done but my train of thought was so broken. The rest of my day was spent sitting in darkness, taking pills, not moving, saying frustrated words under my breath, such a waste of time. Light, movement, sound become my enemy and bending over causes head explosions. I sit there feeling thump, thump, thump, I joke with myself thinking it's so unfair to be this hung over and I never touched a drop. ...................................
Someone said to me that not many men get migraine headaches, I don't know if that is true. I know people who get headaches much worse than I do. Mine can last for days, I have to act fast because it will make my stomach sick and then I get stuck in a cycle of my headache making me sick but I can't keep anything down to make it go away, and if I can't make it go away it keeps making me sick and on and on. Sometimes I get a warning a few hours before, it will be as if someone were to flick the lights on and off in a split second, that could happen out side in sunshine as well as indoors. I used to not say a word about that for fear people would think I was crazy, or maybe men in suits would show up and say I figured out we were living in the matrix and I would need to be relocated. Fortunately I learned that can be one of the signs a migraine is coming on. ...........................................Finally at 10:30 it begins to fade and shortly after I am starving, tea and warmed up pizza are my late night supper, I believe that is the traditional Easter Sunday supper. Such a waste of a good afternoon. Cry baby session over.

I too suffer from sinus headaches. Mine are so bad I have to shut the blinds and light out in my bedroom, put a towel over my eyes, press down on them, and wait it out. I have found acupuncture and Oriental herbs helps keep them in check. When I get them, they're not as bad as they used to be. I also now take Claritin when I feel one coming on, and have my acupuncturist apply the needles. I hope you get some relief from yours.
So sorry to hear of your sinus migraine. I suffer from sinus headaches, but fortunately I don't get migraines. My co-worker across the hall gets at least two a year, and they are debilitating for her. I hope you've had a better day today.
Luckily I do not have that annoyance but I do know people that do and all are not women. It can be debilitating and I feel so sorry that you have to go through this. Walter talked about acupuncture and I know of a friend who swears by it when hers flares up. I've never tried it but maybe it is worth a shot. Happy to hear it got better and pizza at any time is a good thing.
I had migraines from the time I was 25 until I was 50 - almost a 25 year span. At one point I was given medication but found that the hangover from it was almost as bad as the headache itself. Never could figure out what triggered them but you have brought back memories of darkened rooms, desire for total silence, sick feeling, unable to eat or drink et al. I'm probably tempting fate by saying that I haven't had one in almost 20 years.... hope you're feeling better today?
The only thing that works for me now is Advil, but only if I can take it when I feel a headache coming, if it suddenly arrives then the day is pretty much over for me and most of the second day as well.
Some years I hardly get any, other years not so lucky. Back to normal so to speak, or as normal as I can be... so many jokes there.
Thank you Mr. Stephen and yes pizza is always a good thing lol. It makes sense not to notice a headache when a doctor sticks you full of pins I guess, hahaha!
Will, mine started at about age 22 and I blame the job I had at the time. There are triggers that I have learned about over the years. Some of them have to do with food. The one Sunday came on suddenly, could have been the spices in the meal or some types of chocolate can do it. Also that night the temperature dropped and a cold front came in, so I'm never really sure what happened. Sometimes I can go for almost two years without getting one and then other times I can get them almost every month. I know I get a lot more of them here in the country oddly enough.
Sorry gentlemen, I just noticed that when I view this with the desktop version, my replies are no longer attached to your comments, going forward I will address you by name.
No fun that.
These things pass and don't let'em get you down or lose track .
Michael, shhhh, don't type so loud. I am used to having them, still annoying though.
