Life steps in.

Life steps in and pulls you away from blogging or other things that can be set aside. I received a call that mom being rushed to the hospital with a possible heart attack. We were worried about something like this, fortunately it wasn't her heart but mom's health has completely gone off track. Something changed in her patterns suddenly, common for people with dementia. She stopped sleeping, she hadn't slept for days but instead of being tired she was acting like a person who drank ten cups of coffee. Her health seemed to be coming off the rails and no medication was helping. I text a friend one night that I thought mom was going to die. She also stopped eating and developed an obsessive drive to go home, even though she doesn't know where home is anymore.

Most of my time lately has been taken up with hospital visits, phone calls, doctors appointments etc. Typical of life, my work has really ramped up at the same time. I have a lot of long days there as well. I'm trying to avoid the optics of always taking days off when I am needed the most at work. It's important to be thought of as the "go to guy" and not the "he's off again" guy, that's just a fact of work.

There's something else as well, I can't put my finger on it but I seem to have lost interest in most things, including all things internet. I never think about dating sites, emails, blogs etc. I just woke up to the sound of geese flying south in the dark, they should have left sooner before nightfall, I wish I could go with them.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope things settle down soon. You've got a lot on your plate right now, alas.

I'm so sorry, honey. I wish I could hug you in person (you always bring that out in me). It sounds like you may be suffering from a little depression. I know, duh. Remember, we are all here if you need us. Please try to find someone to talk to before things get too dark. Hug something furry. A chicken won't do in these kinds of situations.

Thanks for letting us know what's going on. I'm sorry to hear it's your mother's health, which sounds like a challenge to the medical staff as well as you. Take care of yourself, Steve.

Hello Steven,
I came to your blog today after a few weeks away, to tell you what a wonderful time we have had in Canada.
The heritage department in Hamilton couldn't do enough for us. A lady picked us up from the station and drove us to the cemetery where grandad is buried. He fought for Canada in the first world war and although he didn't die until 1928, his death was the result of being gassed in Ypres. He has a soldier's grave paid for by a charity in Canada.
His grave is not listed by the commonwealth war graves commission and the people in Hamilton are going to help me to get it registered.

We visited Niagara too. Spectacular!

I'm sorry about your mom. It's so hard seeing our parents suffer. I send my kindest regards to you.
Be kind to yourself, work will always be there.

Hope you can share the burden with someone who cares for you.
All good wishes.
Christina.

Yikes!
I've been away for a week - in Canada! - and only now getting caught up.....

About your mother, she sounds slightly manic. Perhaps in her ill health she's had some go off? Always think Rx side effects as well.

Regardless, I am glad to see you surrounded by support here by your blog= readers.
I too want to reach out do something but perhaps what is best is just be here with you.
