Good morning... Morning.
Early mornings are often beautiful, in spring there is the chorus of birds, at other times of the year the different sun rises can be breathtaking. Seeing first light and the feeling that a new day is beginning has a special feeling to it. I will admit however that even though I think mornings are gorgeous, I am not a morning person.
I never have been a morning person, I would like to be a morning person but my internal clock always makes me want to sleep my heaviest between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. my entire life, which is a total bummer when I have to be up by 5 a.m. I'm not a happy camper when I get up, I feel groggy for hours no matter how much sleep I get. I think right now is the worst time of year, even at 6:35 a.m. it's still black dark outside, I leave in the dark and get home in the dark. It doesn't help when it's freezing outside either, lately it's been between minus "eeeeek" and minus "aaaaahhkk" with a few nights of minus "where'd my #&@ing testicles go"!
Still if I didn't have to go to work, I would probably sleep in and miss the dawning of a new day and all the beauty that comes with it.
On my way to work, it was -25 that morning which caused pillars of rainbow like lights to appear in this field. I messed up on getting a better picture as I got closer but I would have missed this if I was still snoring in bed.

Forced to get up and see beauty. Well, sleep IS important, but I feel like I benefited from your early rising, having gotten to see this pic!
Just wait 'til you're retired! You can sleep in all you want then! It's one of the perks.
Holy cow that is cold!! I am more of a morning person simply because I don't sleep much. Its hereditary I think because my mom and my grandma are light sleepers as well. The pics are beautiful though.
I, too, am glad you HAD to get up so you could share that photograph.
I used to be a night owl, and now I am a total morning-er ...up at about 6:15 every day.
What happened to me??????
5am?! No wonder you are such a crankypants.
Beautiful photo, Steven! I just happen to be a morning person. If I'm still in bed after 6:00a.m., I'm probably coming down with something. I used to be both an early bird and a night owl. Age and decrepitude has taken care of that. I'm usually down for the count by 7:00p.m., dozing off while watching Jeopardy. This is my hibernating season. I don't know how you folks get around in such cold!
I love sleeping in on the weekends as I get up around 5 every workday.
up at 6a for me. this morning the temp was -5C. had to dig out the hat & gloves and face mask and winter coat. :(
on the weekends I sleep in and damn be anyone who disturbs me!
I have always been an early riser...even in college. I get up at 4:50 AM every morning and walk Murphy before heading off to school. It is pitch black, but I like that time. Just me and Murphy and the stars!
Harry, then I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Debra, I think I will be ninety before that happens lol.
Hello Holli! Thanks for the compliment on the picture. My dad was a morning person, I don't think I can ever remember him sleeping past six, he usually was up by 5.
Bob, 6 is an ok time, seven is even better, after eight is getting a bit too late.
OL... and what's your excuse? :D
Deedles, I've been noticing that I become a zombie after 7:30 p.m. however I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep, I always have.
Richard, having to pee always ruins my sleeping in on weekends. Lol
Anne Marie, six is an ok hour to get up at. I'm usually in pjs until nine on Saturday at this time of year.
I'm not a happy camper when I get up? What if someone is blowing you till you wake up? I bet that would change your tune.
Maddie, nooo you are so wrong! In that case I would never want to get out of bed!
Oh the pain.
I think you should come visit as the low is about 10C
Dr Spo, I'm starting to think your scorpions are worth it! :)
