Strawberry basket mystery.

I didn't go out much this weekend, it was hot again and I wanted to get caught up on laundry etc. As part of a group taking care of a cemetery, I had to do some work there but other than that I was at home. Some of my friends were going out to a restaurant, it's not fancy but the food is delicious, they asked me to come along and so I did.

When I got back home I thanked them for the evening out and waved goodbye. As I was about to enter the house, I noticed an empty strawberry basket sitting on the bench of my deck. I found that strange, that was the only sign indicating someone was here. Did I miss a visitor, my car had been left in my yard, did they think I was sleeping or wouldn't answer the door. Why leave an empty strawberry basket, where are the strawberries? What happened to them, maybe they became angry waiting and ate them all.

I checked my email, text and phone but nobody left a message saying "we stopped by but no one was home". I text a few of my friends but none had been here. This will drive me crazy and I will probably never find out the answer. It also makes me feel uneasy to have someone walking around while I wasn't home. Here all weekend and the second I go away someone drops in... typical. Now why would they leave an empty basket.

Well, I can tell you it wasn't me. If I had been there, there would have been the basket, with two napkins and a can of Redi-Whip.

wasn't me either; I would have eaten the strawberries and recycled the plastic basket!

Raccoon found trash, lost interest and left it on your porch? It wasn't me. I prefer mine sliced and sugared. Too sour for me otherwise.

It wasn't me either but how refreshing to have someone leave you something instead of nicking something!

This is indeed a mystery. It would be different if the basket was filled with strawberries. Maybe someone left them for you and a wild animal ate them before you got home?

Hmmm...how do you know it was strawberries?

Maddie and the handcuffs sitting beside the basket with glitter on them would totally give you away!

Anne Marie, that would have been better, at least I would never have known and not developed a craving for fresh strawberries that night, lol.

Walter, grrrrr I should have known it was you. Knitting doesn't make you that hungry!

Deedles, no it had been placed neatly beside a box of flowers sitting on the bench, raccoons would have pulled the flowers down and pooped on everything.

RJ, hmmmm it would be like you to do something like that but I don't think you would fly the couple of hours to get here.

Christina, I suspect it was a neighbour or relative coming to visit.

Michael, no it was placed neatly on the bench and animals would not eat the stems, they would have also made a mess everywhere.

John Michael, because the basket said strawberries, it had strawberry juice stains and it smelled of fresh strawberries.... lol. I don't think it was zucchini, plus I wouldn't be upset if someone ate all the zucchini.
