Don't ruin the canvas.
I was at my sister's place and she was wearing shorts. She had a large tattoo on her leg, just above the knee. I asked if it was real and she said yes. I was very surprised, I never thought she would do that, I asked if it was a mid-life crisis, she gave me her disapproving eye roll and sigh. It's an interesting tattoo, a maple leaf in fall colour with a native American touch to it and some themes within. She said that is the one and only tattoo she is interested in getting.
I don't have any tattoos, I'm not really interested in getting one but I'm not against getting one. Personally I find when it comes to tattoos, less is more. I think the human body is nature's canvas for it to paint on, adding one or two interesting tattoos can enhance someone's look but don't mess it up. You wouldn't plaster a dragon eating a flaming skull and "I love Brittany" across the Mona Lisa.
I have noticed sadly a new trend, many good looking young guys, in nice shape, become covered in tattoos. I find it takes away from their looks. I also hate how it looks like they are wearing a shirt even when they are not, I know that is my own preference but I find too many tattoos a turn off. One or two small ones on the arm, shoulder or chest can actually make a guy look more erotic but an entire scene from some sort of armageddon event is a huge turn off.
I really dislike the ones that run up and down both sides of a man's body, especially the barbed wire or the ones that look like blades or spider legs. It looks cliche because so many guys get those, they are trying to be an individual by looking like everyone else with the same tattoo, ironic. What is up with the penis tattoos, that's one thing that I am never doing, actually I mean NEVER, ouch, ouch. I think shrinkage would come into play regarding this situation. Anyway, this is just my preference, I'm sure there are many people who feel the complete opposite.

I've never liked them but just occasionally I see a man with perhaps just one coloured sleeve and I think hummm rather nice
I don't care too much for tattoos myself. I would never get one. It's hard enough for me to give myself two shots in the gut daily. NEEDLES!!!! I agree with you on the massive tats. Why would any man desecrate his most prized possession? Balder Half cringes just seeing someone get kicked there in movies. Why prick your prick? To each their own I guess. Of course, being the wet blanket that I am, I feel the same way about piercings. Again, NEEDLES!!!! I was twenty-six before I got my ears pierced. That was enough.
Steven, you get more and more interesting everyday :)
I have one tattoo, small one on the back of my neck at my shoulders. I love guys....and I'm not huge on a over load of tattoos on guys. You worked to get a smoking body, that's what I want to see.
Nature is doing a pretty good job of ruining my canvas on its own. But why have a canvas if you aren't going to put any art there? Having said that, there are more and less skillful tattoos one might obtain. I once met a young fellow with "Gangsta" tattooed on his neck; he was trying to rent a room at my landlord's house.
If you're going to have a mid-life crisis then getting a tattoo is not such a bad idea. It beats selling a farm, anyways.
I'm not surprised that your sister has a tattoo. Generally speaking, we lesbians LOVE tattoos. I have two and will be getting a third one this fall. I think all tattoos are interesting because they all tell a story about the person who has them and their history usually.
I find most tattoos are poorly done along with having questionable placement. I'm not opposed to tattoos. The right ink on the right guy can be hot. Tribal tattoos now look dated. I could never get a tattoo because what I like today, may not be what I like in a few years.
me get a tat?
HELLZ NO!
but if other people wanna, that's their thing.
too much ink is a turnoff for me.
Again, people, NEEDLES!!!!! Am I projecting again?
Needles for Deedles?
Full disclosure: I have some. They can all be covered by clothes, so people only see them when I go swimming (which is not often) And I think some men can really pull them off. The one cool sleeve. The occasional leg tattoo. The awesome soul guard. But yeah. Not for everybody. It can look like an over caffeinated toddler took to a wall with a sharpie.
I don't mind one or two small ones but I mostly like men bare! :)
Deedles... did you say needles! O.O Everyone hide!
Thank you for the compliment that was really kind!
Cali Boi, sorry I will have to check back on your pictures, I'm not usually looking for tattoos when I'm looking over your photos. I have noticed that you didn't have any and I am really happy about that, you are incredibly handsome and tattoos would only take away from that.
OL, you could get a six pack tattooed on your stomach! Notice I didn't say blank canvas! I just think having your entire body tattooed is a personal turn off, what people choose to do is up to them.
Debra, I know what you mean, some of my lesbian friends have many many many, my sister and her partner were never like that however, so I was very surprised.
Richard, yes just imagine if you had a tattoo saying, "disco forever" how silly would you look now!
Anne Marie, you surprised me, I thought for sure you would have a couple.
Deedles, I'm making a scary Halloween movie just for you. It's called "Attack of the Sewing Machines" aaaaaaaah!!!
OL, that's the best you can do? You're slipping! Hehehe!
Sixpence, sharpie to a wall comment is the closest comment to how I see too many tattoos on a guy.
I keep vacillating between no tattoo ever and a discreet little "Spo" on the deltoid. I doubt I will.
Dr Spo, I am debating whether or not I should get a "slippery when wet" tattoo on my...... no just teasing.
A "sensible" woman named Deedles
Loathed and detested needles
Two sons she bore
Used nothing more
Than whimpers, whines and wheedles
Your sense of humor is sharp like needles, woman named Deedles.
