Not 3.14 but lemon.

Pie, not the math kind, the lemon meringue kind. On the weekend I made a lemon meringue pie, it was my first one, my mother and grandmothers used to make them all the time. I suddenly felt nostalgic and wanted to try making one.

I took longer than I was supposed to and my meringue sat a little too long so it didn't spread properly. It taste great however, embarrassingly, I ate it myself.

I was trimming around the flowers and broke one, rather than let its beauty go to waste, I brought it in to enjoy the colour, (that's "color" in American, @ Deedles lol). Petunias were my mother's favorite go to flower, as it was her mother's favorite also, they are quite hardy and can take a lot of heat and sun.

Bunnies, I love just saying that word... bunnies,
it's a happy place kind of word, one of my straight friends, a tall hockey loving typical Canadian guy, always calls them that, he never says rabbits, he keeps some as well, I think that is cute.

This again is Grey Poupon, ( her previous owner called her that not me) with her baby. That's it.... the end.

  2. You nearly lost me at "math" (my math is appalling!) But then you redeemed yourself with lemon meringue, flowers and bunnies!
I used to have bunnies as a child. They are so sweet, as are guinea pigs, which my little grandson calls " bunny pigs" .

    1. I looked after guinea pigs two years ago for a friend and I loved them, I didn't think I would but I did. The only thing is their fur is not soft like a rabbit but their temperament is much nicer. I would take an unwanted one.

  3. Lovely, light post, Steven. I'm coming out of my earlier depression, and this helps.
I love a man who bakes! Just in case you're wondering, you can't taste a pie by licking the computer screen. More's the pity.

In the spirit of diversity and acceptance I'm going to let u be u. I repent of my spelling bigotry! I welcome my weird spelling neighbours!

Now about those cute little bunnies, what is the baby one called? If not named yet, howzabout Gulden to go along with Grey Poupon? Just a random thought.

    1. Deedles, sending you happy thoughts. I could mail you a slice but not sure what that would look like once it got there. The baby has a new home with a family in the city. It's a metropolitan bunny now. Like I said before, we needed some place to put all our "u"'s. :D

  4. My favorite kind of pie! I used to ask for it on my birthday but my twin always won with her cake request. Just as well, I wouldn't want lemon with green meringue for St. Patrick's day.

    1. Was your sister named Patricia? Lol, that's an Irish joke, Pat and Mike are names used in almost every Irish joke for those of you with no leprechaun in them.

  5. I think your meringue looks pretty damn good -- lots of nice golden carmelized bubbles on top, just like my Mom's used to have.

  8. I was thinking. Next time you visit you dear mother, cut her some petunias and take to her. I bet she would love them.

And you bake!?!?!?! This husband pot is getting sweeter.
